The 2 main Folders in the Sims 4

The Sims 4 consists of 2 main folders:

Installation folder The Sims 4

 The installation folder contains the required folders for the game, being:

  • __Install
  • Data
  • Delta
  • Game
  • Support
  • Expansions like EP, FP, GP and SP
 Could be created anywhere on your computer.
Mostly found in:
C:\Program Files (x64)\The Sims 4. 

Easiest way to locate:

  1. Right-click on the shortcut on your desktop.
  2. In the pop-up-menu, select Open File Location.
  3. You see TS4_x64.exe in the installation folder\Game\Bin.
  4. In the top menu-bar click on the arrow-up twice.
  5. You now have found your installation folder
 By default, Origin will create your installation folder in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4. 

Easiest way to locate the installation folder when created on a different location:

  1. Download this small file
  2. Put it on your desktop
  3. Double click on it
  4. You now have found your installation folder

 

 Cracked files:
No problem. You simply move the installation folder to another location.
Don’t forget to place the new location under the exceptions of your anti-virus.
Make a new shortcut of that new location\Game\Bin\TS4_x64.exe. 

Legal files:

  1. Open Origin
  2. Click My Game Library
  3. Right-click on the picture of The Sims 4
  4. Click Move Game
  5. Browse to the new location

Origin will move the entire installation folder (incl. cracked packs) to that new location and adapts the register, your shortcut

Progress folder of the Sims 4

 The Progress folder contains the folders for saving your own made Sims, Lots a.o.

This is also the location where you must place mods etc.

Some important folders:

  • Tray
  • Saves
  • Mods
 By default this folder is created in:

C:\Users\Your username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

 By default this folder is created in:

C:\Users\Your username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

 You can move the progress folder to another location but that is rather complicated.
