Pack System: Add DLC’s to your legal base game (Mac version)

Unpleasant message by Anadius for Mac players:

Okay, fine, I’ll make an announcement as clear as possible because people won’t shut up.

I’m not going to make a DLC Unlocker for EA app on Mac.

I don’t know how to keep using Origin without switching to EA app. I don’t know any tricks.

There isn’t a native cracked version of The Sims 4 for Mac. And considering it’s been over 9 years since the release – there probably won’t be any in the future either.

There’s a Windows version running through Wine/Wineskin/CorssOver – this works on Macs, even M1 ones. You can find it on NXMac, I won’t help you with installing it. You can update it with Sims 4 Updater though.

Why I’m not going to make a new Unlocker? Because I don’t have a Mac. And I’m not going to remote connect into someone else’s computer. I did that when making DLC Unlocker v1, but that one was much more primitive, and I did most of the work on Windows, then just replicated the method on Mac. I can’t do that with Unlocker v2 so I’d have to come up with a new method. I have one in mind but the installation instructions would be much, much harder than those for Unlocker v1. And people still can’t follow these without asking me for every little thing.

Ok so for the mac people I found a way to still use the origin dlc unlocker even after switching to the EA app. It’s a bit of an annoying process to go through but for now I can still play the game with all the DLCs so it’s better than nothing I guess. For this to work you need to have both Origin and EA installed on your computer. Luckily origin for mac is still available to download online if your origin was deleted when you switched to EA.

The steps:

1. Open origin
2. Open EA (press cancel when it asks for admin password and press ok on communication error pop up)
3. Go online on origin
4. Open sims (from where you have it saved on your computer not from the EA app. For me I just type sims in the spotlight search bar and open it from there)
5. Close sims and quit origin
6. Run the add fake entitlements command (don’t have to do the step of opening origin and sims online first then closing because you have just done that)
7. Open origin
8. Close EA app
9. Open ea app (again press cancel on admin password and ok on error pop up)
10. Go offline on ea app
11. Open sims
12. Play with DLC!

anyway hope this helps someone, i know its a lot of steps but like i said better than nothing i guess.

The undermentioned will no longer work when you have switched from the Origin to the EA app

Pack System: Add pirated DLC’s to your legal Origin base game (Mac version)

When you have at least the Sims 4 base game via Origin you can add pirated DLC’s to your legal game for free. (Not sure that it also works for Steam)
You can get the legal base game for free from Origin now.

  • Always automatically the latest version (Origin updates it for you)
  • No problems with anti-virus (there are no cracks)
  • Much smaller downloads (example: Cottage Living is now only 1.6 GB instead of 11,4 GB)
  • Easier to add missing DLC’s for free
  • Less problems with your CC
  • Access to the Gallery
  • No game-cracked folder
  • No hassle with remid cookie
  • Play via Origin/Steam as if you bought all expansions..

New DLC’s however must still be added manually (step 3), although much smaller in size. (example: Cottage Living now 11,4 GB, with this system only 1,6 GB)

Preparations in Origin

  1. Log in to your Origin account
  2. Click on the word Origin (left top bar)
  3. Click Application Settings
  4. Click Application
  5. In Client update:   switch “Automatic game updates” and “Automatically update Origin” on – see picture below.
    Now your game and Origin update whenever you start your The Sims 4

 

 

 

Find the location of your original (legal) game

The packs should be in:
[Your home directory] > Applications > The Sims 4 Packs

What the home directory is called will depend on what your user/computer is called. To find it, you can use the Finder – it should be in the left hand menu with a little house icon. Otherwise you can also open the finder and press command + shift + H to open the home directory 🙂

NB there is also a The Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts (this is where saves go), as well as multiple other folders/shortcuts called ‘Applications’ which makes this all a little trickier than necessary!

As i don’t have a Mac i can’t try it out. 

STEP 1

  1. Download a small file Origin DLC Unlocker v1
  2. Double-click to extract the downloaded file
  3. Quit Origin (closing the window is not the same)
  4. Ignore the Windows files
  5. From the downloaded and extracted file Run “fix OriginClient.command”.
    If you get an error stating the file comes from an unidentified developer – right click that file and select “Open”.
    If you get an error stating you don’t have appropriate access priviliges – make the script file executable
  6. Run “add fake entitlements.command” and do what it says.

If you want to revert all changes. Run “delete entitlements.command” and re-download Origin app

Things to remember:

When Origin updates repeat step 5.
When a game gets a new DLC re-download the Unlocker and repeat step 6.
When a game gets a new update you don’t have to do absolutely anything.

From now on every time you want to play the game:
0. Exit Origin if it’s running.
1. Start Origin (you MUST be online).
2. Select Origin > Go Offline.
3. Start the game.
4. Try going online, you can do it from Origin in-game overlay. If that removes the DLCs repeat the process and stay offline.
5. Enjoy your game!

STEP 2 (Optional)

  1. When you already have cracked DLC’s in another folder, copy the EP’s, GP’s and SP’s only to the folder of your legal game
  2. When Origin updates repeat step 5 of Step 1
    When a game gets a new DLC re-download the Unlocker and repeat step 6 of Step 1.
  3. Play the game via the legal installation folder – Game ->Bin ->TS4_x64 or shortcut thereof.

For those who are struggling to add DLC’s to their game, here’s an easier way of understanding:

  1. Make sure you’ve repeated “STEP 1” for the DLC Unlocker
  2. Download chosen DLC’s (via https://sims.tarac.nl/direct-links-to-packs/) and extract the folder from the .iso file* (e.g. SP35)
  3. Locate your ‘The Sims 4 Packs’ folder:
    a. Open Finder and do: Shift + Command + H
    b. Click on ‘Applications’
    c. Locate ‘The Sims 4 Packs’ folder, if missing create a new folder with the exact name
  4. Drag your DLC folder (e.g. SP35) into ‘The Sims 4 Packs’ folder
  5. Download the DLC Unlocker again and run: “fix OriginClient.command”
  6. Open Origin and go to: Account > Go Offline (in the menu bar)
  7. Open your Sims 4 game

*Double click the .iso file and drag out the folder from the window
** Right-Click File > Open With > Terminal

NOTE:
• You must repeat steps 4-5 in order to add new DLC’s to your game
• Steps 6-7 must be repeated every time you want to open your game to play with DLC’s and/or with online features
• If your DLC’s haven’t appeared in-game, restart Origin and repeat step 6

Alright, so it seems that some people have been having issues downloading the new pack. First of all, it’s best to install the LATEST version of the unlocker:

-because the unlocker has been recently updated. The DLCs are not up to download individually on the website anymore, so an option is to download a torrent client. It’ll help you open .torrent files on Mac. I recommend Transmission as it is a simple and easy for beginners torrent client for Mac.

*By the way, once the downloads of the DLCs are complete, you’ll have to extract those as .rar files. In order to extract .rar files on Mac, download The Unarchiver on the app store.

In order for:
EP13: Growing Together
EP14: Horse Ranch
SP40: Greenhouse Haven Kit
SP41 Basement Treasures Kit
SP42: Grunge Revival Kit
SP43: Book Note Kit

-to show up in your game, you have to go to Applications, Shift + Command H, click on the Applications folder, right click on TS4, show package contents, and drag them in the contents folder.

The rest of the DLCs can be simply added into The Sims 4 Packs folder.

So, in order for the DLCs to work in your game, you have to:

1. Download Origin DLC Unlocker *recent updated version.
2. Right click on fix.OriginClientcommand and click open. Press a key and Origin Client will be fixed.
3. Right click on add.fakeentitlementscommand and press open. Complete the first instructions provided. After the first instructions are complete, press 2. Then press another key to finish the command.
4. *VERY IMPORTANT* Run fix. OriginClientcommand again. Make sure you press a key to finish the command.
5. Open Origin as ONLINE and go to your profile. Click on TS4, then at the top left of your screen Click Account and then Go Offline.
6. Open TS4 as online. The packs should now work in the game.

If it still doesn’t work, you might have to run the deleteenitlements.command and uninstall TS4 AND Origin. Then you’d have to redo all of the instructions. Pain in the ass to install the sims again I know, but it’ll be a fresh copy.
OR, you can try to go to Documents > Electronic Arts and drag The Sims 4 folder to your desktop. Run TS4 as offline. The packs should refresh and you’ll always have a backup of your mods/CC if you play with them.

STEP 3 (Add missing DLC’s)

  1. Download the DLC’s from this site
  2. Mount the downloaded DLC
  3. Copy  folders from the mounted iso to the folder of your legal game
  4. re-download the Unlocker and repeat step 5 of Step 1
  5. Play the game via the legal installation folder – Game ->Bin ->TS4_x64 or shortcut thereof. (or directly via Origin)

In STEP 3 (Add missing DLC’s) I struggled to find where my legal game packs are installed, so I thought I’d share what I found in case anyone else is having the same issue:

The packs should be in:
[Your home directory] > Applications > The Sims 4 Packs

STEP 4 (add future DLC’s to your game)

  1. Download the torrent for the new DLC
  2. Extract by double-click
  3. Copy the downloaded and extracted folder  to your legal The Sims 4 folder
  4. re-download the Unlocker and repeat step 5 of Step 1

As you don’t have to worry about amendments in the folders __Install, Data, Delta, Game, Support (Origin does that for you) all you have to do is copy the extracted EP, FP, GP or SP folder from the download to your legal installation folder.

Presume the next DLC will be SP42 then, instead of downloading several GB, it will be restricted to maybe 250 MB)
For just (Pre-)Updates you do not need anything at all. Just play the game and it will be automatically updated to the latest version.

Adding DLC’s: Suitable for Windows and Mac

  1. Go to this link
  2. Select the DLC you want
  3. Click on Download
  4. Mount the downloaded .iso
  5. Copy the DLC to the  Packs folder (Mac) or to your installation folder (Windows)

 

Simple way of installing all 18 languages in one go

Please bear in mind that when you installed the game via Origin only 1 language is available, meaning that when you installed in English you cannot change to f.e. Norwegian.
In such cases you’ll have to re-install the game in Norwegian in Origin.
Also downloads from many other sources are often in 1 language only (such as English or Spanish)

Download the Language Strings, extract with Winrar and copy all folders to your legal installation folder
When you have all languages installed, download the Language Changer, double-click and select your language.
In our downloads all languages are already installed.
You can activate the Language-changer from anywhere on your computer, no specific folder required.

  1. I’m having trouble with the horse ranch pack. When I try to adopt or buy a horse my sim just resets. The world is there but there are no horses. I have uninstalled and reinstalled EP14 as well as using the newest unlocker. Is it broken?

    These packs aren’t showing up in game, I followed the steps but for me the contents folder is under /Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4
    with other folders like: cachestr, ConfigOverride, Custom Music, etc. Is this where it should be?

    Because when I go to “Applications, Shift + Command H, click on the Applications folder, right click on TS4, show package contents, and drag them in the contents folder” as specified above, it leads me to “The Sims 4 Packs” folder and there is no option to show packages contents/there is no other folder in there.

    On a separate (maybe related) note, after using the DLC unlocker, all other packs/kits are working in game, but every EP/SP/GP folder now also shows up under /Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 as well as under /Applications/The Sims 4 Packs

    Should they be in both folders? I’m hesitant to delete them bc they’re working right now

    1. Nvm, got it to work!!!

      Everything from those packs are now showing as owned and in my CAS and Buy/Build, WOOO!

      I moved each folder (EP13, EP14, SP40-43) from the contents folder back to The Sims Packs 4 and realized what I was actually missing was:
      after running “add fake entitlements.command” I was forgetting to

      [Press any key to continue . . .] after pressing 2 for “2. The Sims 4”

      I was seeing the

      “Done! If the new DLC doesn’t show up – download the DLC Unlocker again and delete the current one.

      From now on every time you want to play the game:
      0. Quit Origin if it’s running. If you see the dot indicator below Origin app on the dock – open it and press Command+Q on your keyboard.
      1. Start Origin (you MUST be online).
      2. Select “Account” > “Go Offline”. It’s NOT the same as going invisible! “Account” menu is at the top of your screen.
      3. Start the game.
      4. Try going online, you can do it from Origin in-game overlay. If that removes the DLCs repeat the process and stay offline.
      5. Enjoy your game!”

      And NOT realizing that wasn’t the end of the process…hahaha…

      Make sure you see “[Process completed]”

  4. I can’t make it work, every time I run the fix OriginClient.command it says:

    command not found
    Info to fix your OriginClient not found. Update Origin and try again. In case it doesn’t help – wait an hour or two. If you still see this message report this problem with following message:

  5. Hiya, I’m still having issues using my bought packs with the cracked packs. I enabled the packs on origin, re-downloaded the unlocker and went through that process but when I load the game and go into a save file the sim glitches out (e.g. I select the toilet and they do their business but it’s still censored and they begin washing their hands at the toilet), and my MCC comes up with a ‘last exception’ notification.

    I don’t know what to do, it only happens when I enable the packs on origin. Is it happening from something I’m doing wrong? Or is the game just not having it lol.

    1. I managed to get it working, the problem was the Laundry Day Stuff Pack. I kept that pack disabled on Origin and loaded up the game. I didn’t get a notification from MCC and I had no glitches. If you have the Laundry Day Pack and your game isn’t working REMOVE IT, it will work after it’s removed.

      Had the same issue on Mac turns out mine doesnt show me the folder unless i actively search for it
      Just search on Finder on the ‘on this mac’ setting
      or windows ‘this pc’ type in ‘the sims 4 packs’
      should be sown then

      If you first ever try to install the dlcs the folder isnt always per default there just open the Sims 4 game folder and create ‘The Sims 4 Packs’ folder and put all the dlcs in should be working

    1. take them all out and put them in one by one. after you put each one in, run the fake entitlements command. it’s very tedious but that’s how you do it.

      1. I have the DLC unlocker installed, all the pack files are unzipped and I took them out of the packs folder one by one and ran addfakeentitlements.command every time I added one in. I opened the game in offline mode and it still says my packs need to be installed, even my bought ones. I’m at a loss here.

        1. Make sure you dont have 2 “The sims 4 packs” folders by searching, if you do have multiple remove all the empty ones and make sure the one you have left have that exact name and no extra numbers or letter as the game looks for a folder with that exact name.

  11. Is anyone having issues with the Home Chef Hustle Stuff pack. I don’t know where to download the pack anymore.I go to the page that was used before to download the packs individually but when I try to open it a pop comes up of flash player.I’ve also tried the other links(downloaded with torrent)and upon following the steps it’s still showing as not. own.I know I’m following the steps correctly because I have other packs that I’ve used with this unlocker.

  15. I’m having an issue where my sims won’t do anything even after resetting them. I click for them to do thing and the action just disappears. Can somebody help fix this if they have had this issue before ?

    les packs fonctionnent mais ils font beuguer mes sims (exemple dès que je leur dit de faire une action ils se mettent à danser et ne font donc aucune action) j’ai déjà tout essayer et je n’ai aucun mods ou cc.

  17. Before I found this method to get the packs for free, I had purchased Seasons, Cats & Dogs, Get Famous, Laundry Day, Tiny Living and the Book Nook Kit. I have disabled them in Origin and downloaded the cracked version of them and put them in the folder with all my other packs, but they don’t show up. Do I have to enable them on origin for them to work?

    Is there anything I can do to make them work? I really want to be able to play my legacy challenge family 🙁

I’m having a problem with the 2 new kits (SP44&SP45) not showing up in my game even though all of the other DLC does show up in my games (the other DLC was downloaded from the Megathread but these kits aren’t available there so I downloaded it from the ‘Qiwi’). Do you have to put the kits in ‘packs’ or in ‘contents’? Is there already an updated version of the Unlocker for the new kits? Is there anything else that is different with these kits that could explain way they don’t show up in my game?

  19. I downloaded it, I followed the steps and it was going fine until I went into the sims 4. The packs are showing up as owned on the title screen under packs etc., but then I go in game to manage worlds and it tells me “World not installed. The Sims 4 _ has been pre-ordered and is not yet available for download”. What do I do? Help please.

    1. I managed to fix the problem, I didn’t put the packs into the ‘contents’ folder. I will paste an old comment I followed which helped me fix my problem.

      Hi, to anyone that needs help, ive managed to get the sims 4 all packs working as of May 27th along with the gallery.

      If you have Origin and TS4 installed and the packs aren’t working, make sure you’ve quit both the applications if they’re open using Activity Monitor, or just use Command + Q.

      Then download DLC Unlocker again, and right click on delete entitlements command. Open the terminal and do what it says.

      After that, open Origin and uninstall TS4. Sometimes in order for all packs to work again you have to reinstall the whole game. After you uninstall TS4, quit Origin and delete Origin.

      Google Origin and install it again. After you finish installing, if it tells you to update Origin, do so first. After that, hover over your profile, go to Application Settings, and under client update disable “Automatically update Origin.”

      Reinstall TS4. Then run the game.
      Quit the game, and then Origin. Right click and open “fix OriginClient” command, then right click and open “add fake entitlements script.” Press a key to continue and press 2. Then press another key to finish the command.

      Go to applications, shift + command + H, click on the Applications folder, then go to the sims 4 packs folder. Download the dlc packs you want then drag it into the sims 4 packs folder.
      **IN ORDER FOR GROWING TOGETHER (EP13), GREENHOUSE HAVEN KIT (EP40), BASEMENT TREASURES KIT (EP41) to show up in your game, you have to right click on TS4, show package contents, and put EP13, EP40, and EP41 into the contents folder.

      Finally, make sure you quit Origin and run “fix OriginClient” command again. Then go to your profile, click on sims 4, and in the top left of your screen click Account and Go Offline.

      Play the sims 4. The packs should now work. You can go online once you’re in the game. You just have to be offline when you’re starting TS4. Just open Origin, click Account, and Go Online.”

  22. Hi! I’ve been using these packs for a very long time but I hadn’t played in a couple months and this week I realized although my DLCs were showing up in my game, once I started playing, my Sims would freeze. The action log wouldn’t fill up, the Sim would literally get reset by itself when I forced it to cook something and resetting the Sim by myself would not work. I found a comment here that said the Laundry Day pack bugs out the game and tried that as a last resort after literally deleting and redownloading each DLC and doing a bunch of other things and it worked! Whoever commented it, thank you thank you thank you!!!

I uninstalled the laundry pack but despite that, my sims bug a lot… When I ask them to do certain actions it’s as if they are reinitializing themselves and I can’t play correctly.   27. Hello, I need help. Sorry if my English is bad, I´m Spanish. Im having problems with the packs, I have done the step 1 four times now. What I did was updating origin, then when I entered the sims 4 the packs that I had previously didn’t show up, so I did the step 1. I started the sims and again the packs didn’t show up, this happened the four times I did the step 1. I don’t know if I have to update the sims (I haven’t updated since growing up I think). Im so desperate right now 🙁 please help

    1. If you’re having problem’s with your previous owned packs I would first try to update your game. If that doesn’t work try right clicking on the game in the EA or origin app and select repair game, and then start again from step 1:)))

    Re-downloaded the DLC Unlocker, Origin on Mac, followed instructions to the letter, newest version of the game.

  32. Hi ! I have been having this problem where all of the cracked dlcs show up in game but the clothes are gliching. They’re white and red like broken cc.
    The worlds also show up without any lots. Idk what’s causing it so if someone could help i would really appreciate it 🙂

    1. Is anyone else having problems with EP 13? I keep getting an error message stating that it is a corrupted file. Could this be because of Laundry day? please help every other pack is working!

  33. Hello, I recently installed the game from Origin and ran the DLC unlocker and everything seemed fine because it says I own all the packs. I managed to design the sims and the house, but when I tried to game play, to like tell them to do actions, they just stand there and won’t do anything. I haven’t downloaded any mods or custom content, I’m new to the game. Does this have to do with Origin cause I’m using macbook or is it some faulty pack? Hope you’ll be able to help!

  34. hi, I have downloaded the horse pack following the instructions and everything shows up in the game but I cannot buy, rescue to add a horse to my family in cas. Idk if this is a mod issue or I’ve done something wrong.

  35. All my packs say download to use after trying the unlocker multiple times and deleting both ts4 and origin, please help

    1. you have to do it individually! remove all the packs from your folder into a separate folder, drag them one by one into the sims 4 pack folder and run fixorigin.command or whatever after each one!

  37. Anybody else experiencing question marks on all the clothes and red and white patches ? the whole game looks buggy.
    Has anyone been able to fix that ?

    1. I think that might be a problem if your clothes are custom content. I’ve had that problem and it’s mostly bc they’re out of date and you’ll have to delete/ update the specific clothing.

  40. my game updated and all the base game worlds have disappeared, ive tried re-installing the Unlocker and all that but nothing is working. the DLCs seem to be working fine i just cant access willow creek, oasis springs or newcrest.

  42. Hello, just wondering if i am still able to access the gallery once i’m in game ? I’m a mac user using origin and I go offline before going into the game but am i not able to go online into the gallery anymore ?

    1. I was able to get all this on my mac, and yes you can get into the gallery. Just make sure to open your game in offline mode, and once you’re in, you can go online and access the gallery.

  43. The only problem I am having now is that the world for the horse ranch pack is not showing up, I am able to see the townies, get the horses, mini goats, and mini sheep, and hire the ranch hand

UPDATE I’ve got everything working within horse ranch: i can creat and buy the animals visit the equestrian center use the cas clothes and build items but i still cannot see the word map and all the cas and build items dont have the horse ranch symbole on them does anyone know how to fix this? ( idk if this helps but when im a the main menu and i look at the packs in both online and offline the picture for horse ranch is just blue)

  46. Heey! Ik heb alle EP’s al, nu wil ik alleen EP14 (horse ranch) toevoegen. Ik kom er ff niet uit met de engelse comments. Voeg ik de pack gewoon toe in de folder en doe ik dan weer de unlocker?

    1. Hi, make sure to put it in the “contents” folder and NOT in the “sims 4 packs”. I missed that the first time I tried installing it.

  49. I got the files from Stack and Mega option, but after following all of the steps the new content doesn’t appear in the files. I already did run “fix OriginClient” a few times 🙁 Any idea what’s wrong? Are the files from Stack and Megaonly for Windows, not Mac?

    1. My game was running perfectly fine, but after I tried to download horse ranch, in which I followed Xova’s instructions where I re-downloaded both sims and origin, my game broke. Now when I want to play Sims it says I have to download to use all of my packs i’ve downloaded. I don’t know if this has something to do with me having put my folder with all my packs on my desktop before deleting or something else.

      I’ve tried Xovas method a few times before coming on here if anyone can help id be really thankful.
